William Calvin Sanders papers, 1874-1910 [manuscript].

Collection contains 2 scrapbooks with newspaper clippings, correspondence, programs, invitations, and booklet of Greeley (Colo.) ordinances; mostly personal with some material relating to his tenure as first Mayor of Greeley (Colo.); and 2 photo albums and assorted loose photographs. Family albums contains portraits and studio portraits of relatives and family members of William Calvin Sanders (1870-1900): Album A is leather bound. Inscription in front of album reads: "Luella C. Sanders from an unseen friend Christmas 1885 Denver, Colo. Haverhill Mass." The album and it's accompanying photographic prints include albumen prints, collodion prints, gelatin silver prints, and a tintype. -- Album B is velvet bound. Inscription in front of album reads: "Mrs. W. C. Sanders Mama from Lula Xmas of [18]88." One loose photo ca. 1930. The album and it's accompanying photographic prints include albumen prints, collodion prints, gelatin silver prints, an ambrotype, and a tintype. Identified individual photographs include: Levi F. William Calvin Sanders was born on July 28, 1842 in N.H. He moved with his family to Greeley, Colo. in 1870. Sanders was Weld County, Colo. Clerk (1874), first mayor of Greeley, Colo. (1879), and State Treasurer (1881-1882). Active in Weld County and Colo. Republican politics, he also worked for the Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska Railway; Colorado Midland Railway; and Union Pacific, Colorado, and Gulf Railway. He died in 1913.
